Thanks to the gyro and the very short learning curve, the Syma s107 is probably one of the very best RC Helicopters you can buy as a beginner to the hobby.
The Remote has two joysticks. The left joystick simply moves up and down along with controlling the speed of the rotors, this controls how much lift you require. The right joystick moves controlling forward and reverse, buy moving up and down, and by moving left and right, this makes the Syma S107 helicopter spin. Really simple controls, and excellent for learning all about RC Helicopters, without spending a fortune.
But the fact that you can SAVE 2/3 OFF the Syma S107, is just for starters, because what’s really very impressive about the SYMA 107 is that there is a very large amount of modification that you can do if you have one of these, this is normally reserved for more expensive and professional RC Helis, not something you would expect from a $35 heli.
A good start is to remove the spring from the left joystick in the controller. This will let you put the heli in a hover and let go of the remote and the S107 will hover on its own. You can also move the landing gear forward to push the center of gravity forward a little, by doing this you can achieve more froward acceleration and speed.
The Syma S107 RC Helicopter is also incredibly durable, if you have bought any other budget range helicopter before, this is definitely a massive plus, many non-gyro 3-CH heli will brake within 20 of 30 flights. I personally still have a Syma s107g thats over 8 months old, and I have crashed into just about everything including the walls, ceiling, sofa and tables, and apart from some cosmetic damage to the body and blades, this still doesn’t affect the Syma S107 in flight, a great tip though is to make sure to cut power to the blades as soon as any crash occurs, just let you S107 fall to the ground.
To be honest even if something does break on your S107, just about every part is replaceable, from the wings to the motors to the body parts, and the parts can be bough here or in your local rc store, they are also relatively cheap also. See the S107 in action below.
